Camera Bag – Backpack type

Hi all,
Am thinking about getting a camera bag that I can throw on my back instead of having a bulky bag over my shoulder. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? I had a look at the lowepro ones, a bit pricey but seem good quality and would last forever……
Thanks
Tara
freshphotoParticipantRobMemberCheck in the equipment for sale forum Tara. Richie Hatch is selling his old Lowepro for the very reasonable price of ?100.
Rob.
AliParticipanti got a cute little micro trekker for my birthday. i’m rather ickle so it suits, and of course it has to look good hehe. Great bag and would highly recommend it. :)
LoGillParticipantYeah I have the micro trecker aswell.. very handy little bag.. get them in Cons for around XX euro – actually fits quite alot in there.. ( available in a variety of colours :) if u care )

Edit – just took out the price, wouldn’t want to ruin your birthday present Ali :)
RobMemberXX euro? Isn’t XX the Roman numeral for 20? Quick, everyone off to Cons….

Is that what you might term a “con-job”?
Only joking! Actually, I couldn’t recommend Conns Cameras highly enough. I used to be a frequent visitor (and customer) when I lived in the big smoke.
As far as backpacks are concerned I just recently treated myself to a Tamrac 5577, having outgrown the smaller Lowepro backpack I had, which looked kind of ridiculous on me anyway (being 6’4″ tall and just a tad overweight
:( )My favourite bag hoewver is still my Domke F2 (an original one, unlike the ones they make now) – it’s a shoulder bag but I got a neat harness with it that quickly converts it to a psuedo-backpack for longer treks. I got it in the US long before they ever became available here and it’s a really easy bag to work from. In my opinion, probably the best bag ever designed!

Yep, the bag is going to self destruct after hearing how much it cost  My favourite part of any pressie is the card to be honest, i’m a sentimental old soul.
Thor, i forgot how tall you were
SteveDParticipantI have the Crumpler Shrinkle. After testing out other bags, I am quite certain this is the best and also very comfortable. I think you can get it for about ?170, maybe a bit less.

I promise that if you buy this bag, you will not be disappointed!!
earthairfireParticipantPersonally I use the Lowepro Mini Trekker. This is big enough to hold 1 x body, 1 x large zoom, 3 x regular lenses, filters, 2 x flash, multimedia viewer, batteries, cleaning kit, cloths, & memory cards. That’s about it’s limit, but more than enough for a serious day sack. Has a really handy tripod carrying pouch on the back too.
Never seen that crumpler bag before, but use a crumpler laptop bag every day, and love it to bits – really good quality. Not sure how well thought out they are for photographers – only one way to tell!

TaraMemberWell,
Thanks for all the tips! Took myself into a camera shop in town on Saturday and bought myself a:

Then me, my new bag and my camera headed off to Dublin Zoo for the day (http://www.flickr.com/photos/taznelson/sets/72157594339882418/)
I can honestly say, this is the nicest camera bag I’ve ever had! It’s got a little rucksack-y type part on top and half way down the bag, another zipper opens to reveal the camera section part!
Thanks again!
Cheers
Taz
darraghParticipantI have the LowePro DryZone Rover, it’s a bit bulky but the watertight section to hold the camera and lenses is great and there is water bladder for long walks.
