Robber flies I think, hanging around and acting nasty.

Great pics. I especially love the first one, the lighting is beautiful.

    Noely,
I’m not a great fan of this macro bug stuff, but i think numbers 3 & 4 are superb.
The DoF and sharpness of the subject is brilliant.

I am a fan of this kinda thing, and think that in general your pix are very good indeed. However, I think they could be stronger compositionally, which would take them out of this narrow discipline and make them more widely accessible. They’re not far off, but as with any other picture, I think that only your best ones should be submitted- however difficult that may be given the quality of the pictures.

I don’t have the equipment necessary to get up this close, but its on a long shopping list somewhere. In the meantime I guess I’ll have to cheat-

    Again some nice shots.
I like number 3 and 4 for the clever use of DOF.
As jb7 says, the composition can improve these photos.

Thanks for the comments, I agree with the composition needing improvement in some shots but as to the equipment you must remember these are shot handheld, with a homemade lens on a fuji point and shoot.
Therefore I am somewhat limited to my options

I know you’ve described this set-up before, but I still have difficulty visualising it: is the binocular section attached to the camera, or held in front of it?

When I tried it, I could only focus when the binocular part was almost touching the subject – but then, they weren’t very good binoculars!
