The Ripple…

I thought I’d start with one of my favourite images, taken in Brisbane botanical gardens.
Taken with a Canon EOS 20D and 17-40mm F4L
It’s personally one of my favourite images due to it’s depth. I find that the harder you look the more subtle details you notice. I’d love anyone to give me an honest critique, and give me suggestions for any improvements they might make. Feel free to be brutal – I can take it!
Thanks for looking,
Tim
*edit* – rehosted image
PeteTheBlokeMemberSmashing photo. Bit arty for me. Maybe it should be in the Abstract section?
I can see it as a poster. Lovely contrast between the green and purple. Er… I’m off back to the macro photos!
MarkKeymasterBeautiful photograph. Love the ripple bottom left, the green of the leaf and the reflection.

So you don’t like the little flower at all then?
RobMemberSuperb image Tim, very nice composition and very sharp. Love the colours and your framing is very tasteful. Nice work indeed.
Rob.
paperdollParticipantExcellent – I like the composition and the colours. Can you remember your settings? I haunt our local Botanic Gardens here in Dublin, but I’ve nothing as beautiful as this!
Noely FParticipantExcellent image……no clutter but lots goin on.The colours and comp are spot on, love the subtle frame too.
Maybe you should send a copy to the Brisbane botanical gardens…ya never know what might happen :wink:stuttterMemberabsolutely fantastic shot. really like the all the elements. Can’t fault it. well done.
but I really don’t like the frame. It distracts from the image, it’s not needed.
earthairfireParticipantMany thanks for all the comments.

Off the top of my head I’m not sure of the settings for the shot, and my mac is packed up ready to ship to Dublin, but I’ll post the settings once I get a chance to get to the original file in a week or so.

The border seems to be a bone of contention every time I post this image. Personally I love it, but many people prefer it without, and I can understand why. Thanks for the honest critique though.
