    Hi Roberto

I really like this shot and have tried similar myself quite a few times only to be asked “where is the centre of interest?” Well, ahem…it’s the whole photograph and I wouldn’t be running to place a shell or a piece of seaweed in the bottom lower 3rd. Your shot has great mood and great lighting. It is simple and I find that quite powerful.

I like the shot Roberto, but if i may i would just like to criticise the frame that you gave the picture, i think there isnt enough contrast with the frame and i beleive that a larger black frame would work better, but that’s only my opinion.

    Thanks for the comments.
I think that the center of interest does not have to be a thing. It can be colour or light.
I choosed similar tone for frame as the light from the sun but it can be changed.

I agree that the framing might be better in black.
As far as a point of interest is concerned, have a look at the photo critique checklist that I posted in General Photography Q section, where it says,
    Artistic Aspects:
? Is the composition visually satisfying, or static, or just plain inept?
? Is your eye led around the frame in an interesting way by use of layers, curving or intersecting shapes, diagonals, repeating themes, symmetry/asymmetry etc?
? Is there a discernible subject? (Does there need to be one for this shot – not always necessary for certain landscapes for example?)”

In my opinion this is a perfect example of a photo not needing to have a central point of interest – it is all about shapes, shadows and patterns. No need for rule of thirds either. I like it!

Here it is with black frame, white 1px inner border:

I’ve done a little rotation and cropped it to a square, (another one) as it was so close anyway.
Nice picture, relies quite a lot on texture-

I like the crop and the frame, Brandyman.

Thats a really nice shot, well done. But I have to agree about the frame, black looks much better man!

Very nice shot Roberto, and Brandyman’s crop and framing has really set it off. Big improvement.

Lovely light in this capture, with stunning tones and textures. I can see why people write “no point of interest” on shots like this, and they’re right. But who says a photo needs one? Guides to composition are just that – GUIDES. It’s looking beyond these and finding what works for you that’s important.

One suggestion for another time – this might look great with a reduced DOF too. I think it would really add to the pic if the focus dramatically dropped off towards the rear of the viewpoint.

Really nice shot… I find my eye being led up from the bottom to the top every time I look at it… and I get to take everything in on the way…

I think the black frame and white border set it off though… It looks better that way IMO…

Looking good Roberto. You’ve had a few of those type of shots lately that have really popped out. Keep em coming.
