Newgrange Standing Stone C

This is a more recent photo from a few weeks back. Stone C is located nearer to the riverbank, south east of the Newgrange mound just at a steep ridge above the floodplain, its quite bulky and about 10ft tall.

Spot the serious magenta cast from the Cokin ND Grad!

Lovely photograph. BTW You should try Lee Filters ND grads which are cast free.

Excellent photograph Ken, despite the central composition (rules are made to be broken) and the magenta cast. Love it.

Thanks Rob and Fintan, I’ve been looking out for some Lee filters now for a while, couldn’t decide whether to get those or a Singh Ray set. The Cokins are fine most of the time except when the light source is coming from an angle nearly horizontal with the filter, like here.

Composition is definitely a struggle when you set yourself a project that often involves a stone or stones in an average field :) I could see not justification for placing the stone anywhere else and the other frames I took look unbalanced when I changed position.

    I like the composition.
Have you tried to use some colour filters for your light source?
I think it would be better than white light on the night time.
