Garron Point – East Coast

Garron Point on the east coast of Northern Ireland. The dark brooding clouds in the distance were bringing rain… First time I’ve ever seen the moon ‘rising’ up from the horizon… :D
    Thanks for looking people!

    Steven,

Another superb image. Nice and simple, just the way I like them. Beautiful colour.

You might want to think about getting a copy of some lens correction software to correct your barrel distortion and curved horizon. I can recommend PTLens for ?5. It is my experience that even canon ‘L’ zooms need this correction. Best ?5 I ever spent. Sorry about being the horizon police again. It’s minor admittedly but would take your image that step closer to being flawless.

I really like the little bit of rock thats visible just below the water. Really nice.

Although i agree with Andy there is a subtile barrel distortion on the horizon line it is still a Fantastic Image…

Where abouts is Garron point? I know it is somewhere near The Glens and/or Coast Road but have no idea precisely where?

    Great image btw!

Lovely shot Steven… Great vibrant colours… my only gripe…as andy mentioned, the barrel distortion on the horizon… i spotted it immediately as its a problem I suffer with the 17-40… A bit of Photoshop lens correction puts it right quite easily…! Or as Andy said PT lens is a great buy and well capable of getting rid of the curve…!

Lovely shot none the less… beautifully handled.

Thanks everyone for the encouraging comments! :D
With regards to correcting the curve on the horizon, is this difficult to do in PhotoShop?

Brandyman – Garron Point is between Waterfoot & Carnlough, along the coast road. There is a car park at the road side so you can’t miss it. Definately a location worth a visit or 2!

    Seductive & Moody Stephen.
A location I’d love to visit. In fact all of that coastline.

Very nice. I’d suspect you’d sell a few of those if you printed them at large size.
Out of curiosity who do you use for printing when going beyond A4 ? or.. do
    you print yourself.

I find inkjets for photo use entirely uneconomical myself. They seem to last no time at
all and the price to replace is ridiculous and annoying.

Ian – thanks for the kind comments.
With regards to printing, I have found PhotoBox very good. I normally use them for anything from A4 size to 30″ x 20″ prints. I have an Epson R800 photo printer which I find to be very good indeed, although it is very hard on the ink I find. I refuse to use compatible cartridges with it as I had a bad experience with 2 last year so I only use Epson originals. I normally only use the Epson for personal stuff for family & friends etc.

Lovely shot Steve! I had always admired your work on Ephotozine, good to see you here now. I agree that Photobox are excellent, once you use them everything else seems second rate I think.

Thanks Steve. Yeah, I also find the customer sevice & speed of delivery excellent with PhotoBox. The only 1 time that 1 of the prints was very slightly damaged, they sent me a replacement out straight away without any hassle. Top service.
