Brilliant. A bird of real character and you’ve caught him well.

Brilliant shot with perfect DOF. Can I ask what lens you were using? Is this the full shot or cropped?

No didn’t use flash, but i often do, you just gotta take the chance sometimes and hope you get it, quiet often the bird will stand for a few flashes before flying into a tree :)

    I used my 20D with 100-400 L lens at 400mm f5.6, 1/60sec, ISO400, Raw format and did a slight crop.

Fired off a whole 1GB card, got alot of blurred shots too. But i have 4 good shot converted to TIFF now and i’m happy with them.

Thanks for the C&C guys, much appreciated!!

Great to see one perched on a branch instead of running over the rocks in a stream…always remind me of a giant wren :D

Had to stop by and say hello.
    Very very nice. Great capture!

I find this a tough bird to shoot. There’s always some on the rocks near the birdge in Newbridge in the morning but it’s damn near impossible to expose right for the dark brown and the white. That makes this shot all the more impressive for me.
