any advise please ON BEST archival paper to use. printing on 4800 with matte black. currently using epson archival / enhanced paper. have read that epson ultrasmooth {more expensive} is better lightfast wise etc. I sell framed prints b/w plus colour . yellowing of archival could be an issue .please and thanks. Oss :?
PhilMemberHi
Try Permajet Fibre Base Gloss. I have not used it with the matt black inks but prints in colour or black and white with the photo black look great. (epson 7800 24 inch roll paper) The surface and feel of the paper is very close to Ilfords fibre based wet darkroom papers. http://www.permajet.com for the low down.
Don’t use the permajet profiles, profile the paper yourself with your printer to get the best results. Permajet, fuji, epson profiles and all others downloaded are okay but not accurate enough. If you are placing the prints mounted behind glass, they should be fine , the paper has a microporous surface. Using an archival quality glass in your frames will ensure longevity, but it is more costly.Hope this helps

If you look at the Fujifilm range of papers….there’s loads of them…and see the fine art museum papers, I feel it should solve your problem. I believe the museum papers would be acid free so they have a greater life span and wont yellow.
You could contact Declan O’Callaghan at Fuji Ireland at 78 Lagan Rd. Dublin 11. Tel: (01) 8820200. Also give Sheldon Long a call at (01) 8454021 who can supply and advise you on the best one for your purposes.TuanuaMemberThanks phil and gerry, the imagelife range by permajet seem to offer what i,m looking for at present. I hear good things also jerry about fuji pearl for wedding work but at present I get a lab to print mine, far more scratch resistant !!
PhilMemberYour local permajet supplier is Paddy Barker, Barker photographic he has an open day on wed 29th Nov to showcase new equipment, printers paper etc.
Fuji Pearl is great I use it for most of my day to day printing and it is pretty robust if you print it up but then leave till the next day before placing into slip in folders or mounts. Try to place it straight into a folder direct from the printer and you will scratch it. You have to be patient to get the best results.Phil
TuanuaMemberAs a follow on to my initial question I have decided on permajet delta matt fibre as no optical brighteners, ph balanced etc.
