& which to go with ?
I prefer the colour one – I think the eyes are more engaging in the colour version, also for some reason it seems sharper in the lower half of her face in colour – not sure why. I think you did very well to have her eyes lit that well while she was wearing the mask. I tried a few mask ones that day but the eyes were very dark which I only noticed looking at them afterwards. The only minor niggle I would have would be her necklace – personally I would probably try cloning that out. I hope mentioning it doesnt make other people focus on it and notice it more – like I said its a very minor niggle in a great pic.
i prefer the b&w one anyway. cant give you a good explanation why. Its just more pleasing to the eye. great lighting and DOF.
The handle of the mask is the only problem i have with the image, but theres not a whole lot you can do about that.

For me the colour image appeals because of those amazing eyes, this girl is such an inspiration from reading her story,you have metered well here to bring out the detail in her eyes,it looks like a one light with reflector shoot ? If so even better,would love to hear youre technique on this one as Gerard found it difficult to get the eye’s to liven up.Personally i wouldnt close it down to 2.8 or wider as the mask seems to pretrude out from the face a bit which kinda throws the DOF(personal opinion,others will def disagree i’m sure). Regardless lovely portrait Jack,would love to see more from the same shoot if any exists?

If so even better,would love to hear youre technique on this one as Gerard found it difficult to get the eye’s to liven up.to be honest trial & error, once I had beth the way I wanted her I snaped looked at the screen and either adjusted my flash, appeture or shutter speed to get the tweak I wanted, I can hear the screams of horror going up from a few people who worked with me in the past, but it seems to work (for me anyway) that was the 11th shot of that attempt

the mask was slightly large for Beth so I had her hold it a bit infront of her face so that it looked a better fit, it was too good of a prop not to use
I like the first one more because it is very classy looking… I find I am looking at her eyes more in that one, which I presume was intended.
I wasn’t sure if I liked the handle or not because it’s so in focus… so I did a quick edit to remove it to see (hope you don’t mind)… and I think I am drawn to her eyes even more so, but I do miss it now!!

The Black & White one does it for me. In the colour version the skin colour around the left (her right) eye looks competley different to the right. The eyes are fantastic in both.
I think her eyes stand out more in the monochrome version and are really hypnotic. In the colour version the colour of the lips seems a little artificial to me.
Absolutely adore the colour, but prefer the b/w, or is it the other way around. Can’t make up my mind. Both gorgeous. Those eyes…
