You do such great butterfly shots, I am amazed at the amount of different ones you find to photograph, I think the only
ones I have found are Red Admirals, Cabbage Whites and a tiny little blue one that I dont know the name of but was
very pretty and didnt stay still long enough for me to get the camera out!

Lovely shots, and as shutterbug says, such an amount of them-
Anywhere near a complete set yet?

How many different butterflies and moths are there in this country?

    Cheers for all the comments,

As regards a set of shots I am getting there. There are around 28 residental butterflies in Ireland and a few migrants. There are around 15-18 that are resonably common. I have been photographing these to form a series for work. These will provide a guide, posters, online tutorials etc. for biodiversity work I have been doing. Butterflies are excellent bio-indicators of many aspects of environmental quality and impact (e.g. climate change, habitiat fragmentation disturbance & rebound, agricultural practices, chemical usage, etc.).

    Cheers,

    MJ
