    Looks great-
    I see you allow edits,
might have a go at that later-
Its got a film quality to it
and quite a lot of grain-

No exif so it could be anything-
    any clues?

    Hi Tango

Welcome to the Forum. New York has to be one of my favourite cities…love it or hate it but you can’t come away from New York and be ambivalent.

You had a great day to get a shot of the Empire State Building and those are some really nice looking clouds…it’s always good to have some interest in the sky. The first thing that struck me though was that the verticals needed to be corrected and I have taken the liberty of doing a quick Photo Shop edit where I straightend things up, cloned out the big white sign on the building in front of the Empire State and sharpened it.

    What do you think?

Thanks. It was shot with my Nikon F301. I can’t remember the iso film i used. But i did use a polaroid filter which i love to use with clouds.
One of the reasons i started with this was also to pose a question. I have a lot of negatives that i had scanned onto CD when i had them developed. Some came out fine but others are quite grainy (this one included) My question is…… Did anybody else expierence this? Is there any point in having the good shots rescanned from the neg?

Congrats on your win. Great shot.
Thanks very much, that looks so much better. I didn’t realise you could do that with photoshop. I have other similar shots that could do with the same treatment. I must look it up and see how it’s done.

Grainy scans is usually where the shot was underexposed and the scanner has boosted the brigtness, if others from the same film look clean and crisp.

Head is fine thanks Tango. Was a good party though. I’m not sure what PS you have but in CS2 if you go to FilterDistort and then Lens Correction you can fix converging lines etc. Off to Portugal (not the North Pole) for Christmas and hope to get a different take on the Festive season. I have a Nikon Coolscan if you want to try scanning some of your negs (i used it for slides). Give me a shout in the New Year. Cheers Dave

    Just a quick edit,
probly similar transformations tio wavydave’s (congrats on the result)
and a few colour and levels and saturation and hue and contrast adjustments-

My first edit in CS3, and I haven’t got that sorted out properly,
    particularly colour settings,
so this does look just a little different here, than in photoshop-

    more tinkering to be done-

Unfotunately most of the shots from that role came out somewhat grainy :( Could it have been a poor quality film maybe?

It is a pity because as you can see from the shot, the weather/light was fantastic. I took some shots that i really like but was disappointed with the quality when developed. I’ve been back since but never had it as good….

Cheers, Dave. I will take you up on that offer, see if i can improve them at all……
