Shutter release cable

I recently bought a shutter release cable for my Sony Alpha
cost the princely sum of 14.95euro inc postage!! I enquired
in Sony shop how much one would cost and they quoted 99euro,
my question is………is there any real difference?? or are named
brands ripping us off?Shutterbug :?
99 does seem excessive.
I picked up a couple of Chinese knock-offs on eBay for people to give me at Christmas (The Canon versions aren’t too expensive by mail order, but I didn’t check in the shops). ..
Wireless IR Remote Control (EUR9.10 incl shipping etc),
Remote Switch for Canon Rebel XTi 400D XT 350D RS-60E3 (EUR12.20 – got a 3m version – plan is to sit in the warm house and take pictures of birds with camera set up on tripod near the bird table. Hope the birds don’t sit on the camera instead.)
