The Droplet @ f1.8

SteveDParticipant
Wanted to try using my fastest lens wide open to see how it performed, I was pleased with the result! Feedback very welcome…..
Make: Canon
Model: Canon EOS 30D
Shutter Speed: 1/4000 second
F Number: F/1.8
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed: 100
Date Picture Taken: Dec 20, 2006, 2:59:18 PMconstantineParticipantI’ve been looking at this shot and I can’t decide if I like it. If there was just a bit more detail in the focused area, adding detail to the drop, than I’d say it’d be a cool picture.
As it is, I won’t lie to ya, I don’t like it.
SteveDParticipantHey Ken, thanks very much for the feedback. I wanted to try to keep this one as straightforward and uncluttered as possible, so a silhouette seemed like the right choice.
What do you mean by more detail? Detail in the wire, more of the wire in focus etc?
PaddyJoeParticipantSteveDParticipantIt was taken in daylight, exposure length was 1/4000!
Darkened down the right to draw the attention to the left lol, and also add mood!
PaddyJoeParticipanti see.
i might of gone for a bit less mood. but i like the drop and the wire and the barbed bits.

I might try out a lighter version and see how it looks. Thanks for the feedback.
Noely FParticipantrichiehatchMemberNice shot Steve… reminds me of a shot I seen in some book somewhere taken in Auschwitz… sort of has a second meaning or history to it…!

ValentiaMemberIt works for me 100%. There may be a possibility of other variations but that’s a personal choice. I wouldn’t change a thing though Steve.
AliParticipantahhh :) so this is where you posted ;) I like it, simple yet effective, nice tone, no distractions and the eye is focused instantly on that one knot in the wire. Agree with lots of comments, and as Danny said, loads of opportunities for variations. Portrait crop? colder tone? This one works for me though.
