I was experimenting with DOF after reading a chapter in Understanding Exposure, and I realised how difficult it is to achieve a good shallow DOF on a fixed lens. But I like this one anyway.

8)Noely FParticipantCrisp and colourful Robbie, not sure about the composition though…something doesn’t sit properly about it
ExpresbroParticipantThanks Noely.. :D
I would have preferred to have given the flowers more room..open up the space on the right…but i was trying to achieve a decent DOF..and i had to use the zoom to get that…if I’d zoomed out anymore i would have lost the DOF. If you have any tips on DOF and the Fuji fire away…. cos it’s something that I really like to see in a photograph… :)
positronMemberExpresbroParticipantThanks lads… :D
I’ll live with the dodgy composition on this one. Was more about the Depth of Field anyway, so I’m happy enough. Before I signed up to this site I didn’t even know what Depth of Field was… :)
So I must be making progress… 8)

Hope yope dont mind I did a really quick job on p shop and cloned a little space on the left of the flowers I know it isnt a great job but gives a different composition to the picExpresbroParticipantDon’t mind at all :)
Though if I could take it again (and I can’t cos the flowers were for someone…) I think I would add more space on the right myself. But it is interesting to see a more central composition.
I’m still learning SH … and am enjoying learning. It’s been a while since I’ve felt this stimulated by a hobby or interest. Of course I’m sure I’m boring the pants off anyone who will listen to me when I go on about Lenses and Cameras and colour conversions and DOF and colour balance and composition and..well..you get the idea…
Jaysus…..I’m a photography bore!!! :D :D 8)
