More deer shots!

Okay, wild as in, bang in the middle of a crowded city wild – From Phoenix park, last Saturday.
A little cocker spaniel was running lose in the grounds and chasing a huge pack (herd?) of deer all over the place! I tried to stop the little boll*x but he wasn’t having any of it. But thanks to him, I got to see the largest deer herd I have ever seen, especially I hardly ever get to go to Phoenix park!
However, it was my first day out the new Sigma 70-300 f4-5.6 APO DG, and I quickly realized that I am no good at holding the camera still!! Ninety percent of the pictures turned out blurry, back-focused etc. Here are the best of the rest.
A few more on the flickr stream….
Thanks for looking! :)
snaphappyMemberpete4130MembershutterbugParticipantI have the same lens, and found it VERY difficult to hold it steady
also, and I had the same problem with back focus, take a look at
“Rudolphs brother” taken a couple of weeks ago in Pheonix park,
I like the first shot the stag is a beaut! Is he looking at you or the
dog? It is a little dark but that could be my monitor!Shutterbug
positronMemberThanks for the comments, appreciated very muchly!!
Shutterbug, I noticed Rudolf’s brother, but didn’t notice the backfocus till someone pointed in out in the thread – I guess the perfect frame aspect of it did it for me! Lovely photo.
Well, the dog lost interest in the herd soonish, and ran away to chase a model aircraft at the other end of the field, and the herd had stopped to recover from all the running. It was just gf and myself there, and I was about 50 to 100 mts away from them. The stag was looking all protective and even took a few steps towards me with a ‘Quit messing’ look, I was all set to run for my life at that stage! :D
AimeeParticipantpositronMemberThanks Aimee! Some really nice shots there yourself, and out in the real wild too! Good stuff!
