Beautiful light Joe. Well captured. It was worth your while taking the detour ;-)
ExpresbroParticipantReally nice Joe. I took some similar shots last week in better light than you had most likely and they didn’t look half as good…
First one is a really lovely shot especially….

8)PixelleMemberwavydaveMemberterryMemberHi Joe,
These are two beautiful shots. You were very lucky with the light and the weather by all accounts not to mention not being stampeded to death by all accounts. Have to agree with you about putting down the owner rather than the dog. How stupid can people get.

richiehatchMemberLike them both Joe… Lovely light in both… the heavens sure did open soon after ye took those…. i was walking down the quays in Dublin and got drenched…! ah well… actually I am curious what equipment (body and lens) you where using for these…?
Richie
joe_elwayParticipantThanks for the comments folks.
Richie, I was using a Canon 350D and an EF 100-400L IS on a really flimsy and cheap monopod. I think I would’ve had some more good shots if my monopod hadn’t been buckling under the pressure of the wind.
John DunneParticipantjoe_elwayParticipantThanks John,
That oone was made possible by a passer by who had her P&S out. This guy walked up to her and it seemed like he was making sure she wasn’t a threat. He just stood there for maybe 5 minutes.RobMemberGreat shots Joe, or is it Aiden? Looks like you had some pretty good light there at
that time of the day. Lucky you. By the time I arose the world had turned to grey
again. You’d imagine it was the calmest day of the year looking at that second image,
not even the grass is moving.Rob.
joe_elwayParticipantIt’s Aidan :-) Joe_Elway is just a handle I’ve been using since I was in college way back at the dawn of time.
It was windy.. very windy. My rubbish cheap monopod was buckling in the wind. I was grateful I had image stabilisation which allowed a few of the shots to come out.
positronMemberBrilliant shots Aidan! I tried a few shots last week without a tripod (and steady hands) and they turned out really bad! Lessons learned..!! :)
