Yes I would agree. Not enough contrast at the top end.

The composition is somewhat weak too. Perhaps you could have placed the post slightly to the right to show the other posts receding away. As it stands, all it is doing is blocking my eye from moving anywhere else in the photo.

A simple levels adjustment and a little brightness/contrast tweak:

Ross has really brought out some extra detail there.

Love the atmosphere and feel to this shot, but feel that the killer shot would have been a landscape, with the posts running diagonally away, as andy elluded to, leading your eye into the frame.

PS – horizon isn’t quite straight – just noticed!

Yeah I definately agree about the shot with the posts running away, pity I didnt think of it at the time. Ah sher.

The top end is a bit flat actually, I’ll adjust that. But I actually wanted to keep the bottom half of the image darker brandyman and with a much deeper contrast. So your edit doesnt work for me, but thanks for the suggestion.

    Thanks for all the comments.

Great shot. It stopped me in my tracks. Nice to see some waterford pictures in your gallery. I used to work there some years ago. Its a special place for me. BTW your avatar is cool. looks like a mike scott album cover.
