Inspired by Charlie Waite. Up at 5am to find dawn didnt satart till 7. Woke every farm dog in the area. Still I enjoyed it. Was sure some farmer would come and chuck me out of his land. The joys of photography.

    C&C please.

    Perfect!
Any chance we could have a look at a larger version of it?

PS This shot would probably be very happy with a nice frame around it.

    Amazing looking shot-

I’d be with Madra Rua in looking for a slightly bigger one-
A minor niggle would be cropping through the tree on the left,
    although obviously I wasn’t there,
so I don’t know the elements outside the frame
that may have driven your composition.

I might have considered making the subject more central too-

    Amazing light and atmospherics,
and I’ll take your word for it about the sound effects.

    Well worth getting up for,
isn’t it nice when a plan comes together-

Well done John worth getting up at 5am. Nice shade of colour of the sky and surrounding mountains.
Agree with Madra Rua on a frame to finish it off.

This is lovely. It reminds of a picture you’d associate with an advert for a vineyard region. It’s got beautiful atmosphere.
I’d agree with the comment on cropping the tree on the left, it kinda takes attention away from the mist and stuff.
And I’d love to see bigger view into the distance.
    Beautiful image.
Dawn at 7:00am…. was this recently.

    John,

I like this a lot. Although I agree that a larger version will do it better justice.

I love the layering of the hills in the distance and the contrast with the sharp clarity of the hilltop house. What a place to live !

This seems to up sum upTuscany perfectly to me.

You lucky thing, Val d’Orcia would be very close to the top of my wishlist of places to see/photograph on the planet.
This image has such a lot of potential, while its excellent, its not as good as it can be and Charlie would kill you for chopping the tree.

    Can you do some magic?

Also John, just a tip, maybe you know this already, if so please ignore.

You’ve cropped it panoramic, like Charlie Waite and his Hasselblad Xpan. The Xpan makes 24mm by 65mm negatives, so if you’d like to do likewise, open your image. Select the Rectangular Marquee Tool and look at the options for “Style”, you will see a dropdown for “Normal”, under this find “Fixed Aspect Ratio”, select this one and put in 65 for height and 24 for width.

When you draw a selection on the photo, you’ll get an Xpan proportioned selection. Move it around the photo to find the best crop.

It is pity that the tree is not in full on the left side. It would give more ‘fairy’ atmosphere.
    But still very nice.
