Lovely shot, the only thing I think would improve it is to lighten round the front swans face just a bit (but then I know nought) only a thought but a lovely shot all the same.

There’s thing I love and some things I don’t like about the shot. First off… let me say that I find swans to be one of the toughtest birds to shoot, even though you can get quite close to them. It’s just that their brilliant whiteness makes it all too easy to blow out the shot and you end up with having to underexpose and getting large amounts of darkness. And their eyes never come out well, i.e. I never get a catch light int heir eyes.

I’ll second the comments about the slight darkness of the face. It’s not a huge thing though. I would have preferred either the 2nd swan to not be in shot or actuall to be fully included and in focus.

I _really_ like the conversion. Lots of detail too… something I can’t seem to get with swans.

The lower half of the photo really shows what could have been. I think you _might_ have had my ideal conditions for photographing a swan … still water and slight ripples around it. The water ripples look really attractive and it’s a pity they’ve been cropped out. Who knows what I really would have done … i’d probably would have been tempted to shoot in close too but looking at this photo I think I’d prefer a wider shot. I just can’t get away from a photo that includes the pair of swans without a crop.

Lovely shot would have cloned out the swan in the backround though just my opinion though
