Adobe Lightroom 1.0

Adobe Lightroom has just been officially released (Ver. 1.0) and will be sold for ?249.00 ex VAT (the same price as Aperture?) and you can preorder it now. Apparently it will also be available at introductory price of ?175.00 ex VAT until April 30, and a free trial will also be available for download as of the 19th.
How many people here have used it? Is it worth this price tag? What do people feel will happen to ACR (will the two co-exist)? I don’t really know anything about Lightroom or ACR as I use DPP as my raw workflow tool of choice. It will be interesting to see what impact, if any, the release of Lightroom will have on the raw converter sector.
earthairfireParticipantI played with lightroom for a while (the beta editions) but much preferred Aperture. Be interesting to give the finished release a go and see how it compares, as currently use Aperture for all my raw stuff. If it had a better “curves / levels” tool and a healing brush, I’d virtually never need to use photoshop!

stcstcMemberI have used lightroom, in beta
I actually quite like it
one thing that would be nice is to do offline catalogues a bit like apeture 1.5 and ACDsee
PeteMcDMemberI’ve been using the Lightroom beta for a while.
I’m really impressed.
It allows you to edit a JPEG as though it was a RAW file (admitidly the results aren’t as clean…but you can!)
I’m not sure what I’ll do when the beta expires, as I use it for most of my sorting and editing and only resort to photoshop for major overhauling.Aperture is the other option, but I’m not keen on the horsepower required to run it, since i’m on a measly G4 ibook – and it can JUST cope with Lightroom. I haven’t had the chance to use Aperture – if its anything like the rest of Apple’s stuff, the intuitive workflow and integration with OSX should be dreamy. But then, I like how Lightroom works so nicely with Potatoshop.
I guess I’ll hold out and see. Though the introductory offer is very appealing.
MikeanywhereParticipantLightroom all the way for me (only because I use windows – ouch I hear in the distant corners)!!!
