Well they look pretty natural to me John. Guess it means a shot of something in it’s natural state or form.

The first one is the winner for me…great detail in the berries lovely reflection of light ….and great DOF in both shots.

Strange one Roberto. I can see them okay.

Maybe the server he has them hosted on was down for a second or two?

    John,

I think that the flash is too evident in the first one, I’m assuming flash as the light
appears to be coming from the left rear.

Also perhaps not the best berries in that one of them is shriveled.

Other than that nice colour and sharpness.

    Thanks Guys

the definition I was given to work to is “anything that is living or has lived organic matter, this does not include humans or animals”

Roberto if you are not signed in you wont see photos also.

Mark no flash used this was the setting sun on Saturday, looked fairly warm to me thats what prompted me to go into the garden. I am not worried about the subject matter to much at this stage, glad to hear the colour and sharpness is ok. I wear glasses and have been struggling to find the best approach ie glasses on or off.

John I think that the shriveled berries actually add to the natural form.
Great shots just as Robbie described.

I have to go against the grain here I’m afraid. I just dont find the berries shot appealing in terms of composition. The areas of strong highlights on the adjacent leaves are very distracting from the main subject, as is the top left of the image background.
Maybe getting in much closer would improve it, but maybe you dont have a close-focussing lens? I would have thought another attempt in the back garden would soon produce a more appealing image than this one?

Nice first attempt, John. I especially like the flower close-up. Something you might want to consider that adds another element to those kinds of images. Bring a spray bottle with you when you go out to shoot. Then just before you take the picture spray the subject lightly with water to create water droplets on the flower (or whatever). There’s all kinds of fun ways to enhance images. If you have a subject that is not holding the water (it runs off) you can use glycerin available from any drugstore. It’s thick like molasses and creates great little “water drops.”

    John,
    I take these shots as a study…
The berriesthe light is too strong, some leafes are burned and the background is very bright. It’s your garden, you can go anytime and shoot again.
The light of the flower is much better but I think that the foreground flowers are not sharp. The composition is good. Try (if you can) include the all both leafes on the front and one on the back. You could clone the light dots on the background.
