Bray Sunrise

fishjam45Participant
taken on Saturday Morning from the top of Bray Head, freezing cold and I was about a half an hour too early for it, worth the wait though.
Most of my shots of the Sunrise were ruined though because of a small hair caught in the lens – DOH!
shutterbugParticipantNice one Colin, I am a sucker for a sunrise/sunset
I was out myself this morning…..boy was it cold!!
But as you say it is worth it, the sky was amazing
again this morning.joe_elwayParticipantfishjam45Participantyeah, thank god for scarves, gloves and the all important flask of coffee!!!
AiscathParticipantHi Colin love the shot though i think maybe a crop of the blue part of sky? what shutter speed, aperture, lensetc…did you use? Only learnin myself…so my advice on the crop is purely persnal taste, not because i know much!!!!!
mgstParticipantearthairfireParticipantReally well exposed, and nice colours, but for me the composition cold be stronger. Nort a big fan of centralised compositions, and feel some interesting foreground would have made this shot (like a stray stallion in the shallow water :D ). That said, could easily see it as an “inspirational poster” – you know the ones I mean….
Tim
RobMemberFunny how we all see things differently.
Looks like the sun is dead centre of frame here. Some have
suggested cropping away the blue part of the sky, whereas I’d be
more tempted to crop perhaps a third from the bottom to lose that
land/rock jutting in from the right. This would bring sea, horizon and
sun into the bottom third making for a more pleasing composition
overall.
Might be worth getting your sensor cleaned too; you appear to have
a couple of dust bunnies and they may start breeding :lol:Rob.
Noely FParticipantI think the central comp adds to the image, very minimalist.
Dont know about the cropping though :wink:fishjam45Participantyeah man gotta get rid of those dust bunnies alright . . .
didnt wanna lose any of the blue at the top because I didnt wanna lose the contrast it held with the reds and oranges below . . . Same with the lower half – didnt wanna lose any of the suns reflections on the water. Tell ya what though, I’ll give it a go and see how it works :)
Thanks for the suggestions guys, much appreciated . . .
fishjam45ParticipantPippateeMemberIt’s funny, I was reading down through the comments and thinkin’ “Nah, a crop wouldn’t suit this at all”…then I get to the crop and it has made a super shot into an outstanding shot…goes to show what I know!!
Excellent work…in future fill your flask with whiskey and coffee together, then at least if you don’t get a shot like this one…you can drown your sorrows … :D
RobertoMemberVery nice colours and the sun looks good, without any major reflection around.
I would crop out the rock as in Colin’s edition but the square format doesn’t suit, to me.fishjam45Participant
