Kingfisher at Swords

This picture was taken at 10:30 this morning during very heavy fog at the Broadmeadows Estuary, directly underneath the M1 flyover at Swords this morning. I was using my Canon EOS 350 Rebel XT, which I am still learning how to use, with a Canon Ultrasonic Zoom EF 75-300mm, shutter speed 500, aperture 9.0. I’m not an ornithhologist, but, I think it a kingfisher, a rare enough sight in urban Dublin. In the first image posted, rather than spoil the simplistic result, I just cropped the picture and sharpened the image using Adobe Photoshop elements. In the second image posted, I adjusted the colour correction…. my present wife prefers this one! These digital SLR’s are great fun!

It’s a Kingfisher alright. Tough to photograph.

Great to see them in an urban environment too!
