Tha Bass Boy ;)

LoGillParticipant
Ok .. here’s my first from Saturday’s saunter around town …
I had quite a few shots of this guy (sooo pretty !!) to work with – but honestly … I was playing around with the light to catch it a little differently  I recall a challenge for the mst different shot .. or did I imagine that !
Anyway C& C is always welcome and appreciated ;)
L
ExpresbroParticipantWell you’ve certainly set the bar unattainably high (certainly for me anyway). This is a fantastic shot. Very moody..and yes..very pretty..the image..not him..hehe!!
JimmyGParticipantGrahamBParticipantExcellent Shot. Really nice lighting.
You really have set the bar very high with this one.mgstParticipantI really like this shot the light composition and conversion but after looking at this a few times
i think the person in the background is a little distracting.Mick
LoGillParticipantThanks a million for the replies lads :D .. – but have to admit to the flukey lighting and metering matrix on Aperture priority :) …once I changed setting the lighting was totally different :) so something of a jammy shot
The “person” in the background is a mannequinn in the window of BT :) (bloody street clutter) .. I darkened the backround a bit but didn’t want it too opaque … I might try to darken that a bit – If i can tone the shirt down a bit it might help ..
Thanks a mill

ExpresbroParticipantYou’re way too modest Lorraine. I’ll repeat my favourite quote again..(some golfer or other..hehe) when he was told that he’d just been really lucky with a shot. “It’s funny..but the more I practice…the luckier I seem to get..” You knew how to use your equipment…you gave yourself every chance of getting that shot..and you got it. I probably could have stood there all day and I wouldn’t have gotten “lucky”….
Take the plaudits..you deserve them :D
mervifwdcParticipantStunning!
If you can loose the mannequinn, it could have been taken in a studio!

jb7ParticipantHiya Lorraine,
I’ve come back to this one a few times,
and I’m just wondering if I’d know what it was about
if I hadn’t seen some of the other pictures of him posted earlier-Lovely conversion around the face,
(pretty boy looks aside),
well held in difficult lighting.I suppose I’m also not too sure about the positioning of the figure in the backround,
he could have been concealed behind the player,
or separated slightly from him,
but as it is,
he’s maybe a bit too close-
only a small thing though.Great mood to the shot-
j
LoGillParticipantHey JB
You are definately right about the context of the shot – I’m working on a different one with more of the instrument in the frame, hopefully i can get the same results with the light.
With regards the background – it was this mannequin , or 50 people, or 4 other photographers ( you know who you are ;)) or three other mannequinns in the window, but you are right – I might have been able to get a bit more separation had i thought about it properly (Grrrrr) – I’m hoping to make it less conspicuous.. fingers crossed ;)
Thanks for that though – another thing to add to my checklist
L
erinParticipantThe light is amazing, but what impresses me most in this picture it?s his expression, contemplating and embracing the music. I can almost hear it.
