I am a complete novice and took some shots of the kids at tennis lessons.

Hi Eddie, The image is huge far too big to view it properly. I like the expression of determination on the kid’s face.

yup, you’ll need to resize the images down a lot! Try about 800 pixels on the longest side.

Nice shot though! Looks a little soft, but the size is not helping you at all!

I have tried to upload the image again to see if I have manaaged to reduce the size. Hope it is better this time round.

    Welcome aboard Eddie.
Nice first post by the way – the resizing makes all the difference.
It’s difficult to tell where exactly the sharpest point of focus is
with this image because it’s a little bit soft overall, but well done
on capturing the moment. It’s all there, the trajectory of the ball,
the movement of the arms and feet. In spite of the soft focus
I’d call it a pretty successful shot. Well done.

    Hi Eddie,

Nice shot…yours and the tennis player!

I had a similar problem with resizing & the resulting softening image. Have a look at this thread at a freeware software package that resizes to your dimensions and allows for sharpening. It also includes batch processing. It’s an absolute Godsend :)
