Not sure if should be another section, but the way the picture cam eout though would be more suited to here. Taken using a microscope, with digital camera attached…looking at the cells in a red pepper.

I found this image to be badly pixelated, hence has reduce my understanding of it – my choice would be to rotate though 180 degrees and convert to monochrome BW or monochrome red gradient map.

    But a good try

    Thanks for the input…will try.

think a lot of the problems with it come from my plant section being that little bit too thick so make it even harder to get clear defination of the plant cell layers….so much try harder with the blade to get thin sections! Not as easy as sounds!

It remind me bats in cave.
Interesting. You can build on this idea. Try different DOF and lighting.

    any thoughts?

In theory, DoF should not be an issue because the focal plane of the microscope is flat, and your specimen (ideally) is flat too.

To get a very thin specimen, use a very sharp knife. If you have access to scientific equipment you probably don’t need me to tell you this, but you want a microtome, which is basically a miniature ham slicer. You could try freezing the sample and then slicing with a scalpel. Embedding in waxes or resins is a bit more of a pallaver.

When you look at the slide (without the camera) is it sharp and clear?
