#2 is out of focus. The eye is blurry. It’s also over exposed. You’re better off trying to shoot a black cat like this either on a cloudy/hazy day or with the sun behind you (speaking from experience). Not crazy about the composition either. I’d rather the cat be on one of the thirds, not be cut off by the edges and in a portrait. I’d only got landscape if there was something of interest.
Not mad about the Crow shot. On the technique side, the tail is cut off. It could be my eyes (won’t use the stupid monitor “excuse”) but it looks a wee bit soft to me. This might be one where cracking up the ISO would have worked because there was no detail to sacrifice. Still don’t know if I would have liked the shot or not. I probably would have wanted sharp detail.
I like the crow shot. I agree with Joe, the tail is cropped and it could be sharper. If you make a mask of the crow in PS and just sharpen it you wont get noise in the rest of the sky. might work.
