Right, Ive narrowed my search for a serious part time photography course down to these two, Griffith college 2 year part time http://www.gcd.ie/index.jsp?1nID=108…=221&aID=2 68 and NCAD 1 year part time http://www.ncad.ie/faculties/education/cead_pdi.shtml Anyone done either of these and if so would you recommend to someone seeking a career change ( )? I like to know if anyone here have any good tips (or just a quide) how studying works in this country.
I have no clue of anything on systems you have here.
(I tried to find out something but now I feel complitely lost)

around the whole adult eductation in Ireland.You can also email a lot of the colleges regarding question such as costs.

We run a number of courses on a Distance Learning Basis. We’ll be launching an Advanced Digital Photography course in a few weeks time.

The Open College of the Arts seem to do a good distance learning course, designed by none other than Michael Freeman who has written numerous books on photography. What’s great about this course is that students who obtain a pass grade on a Level 1 or 2 OCA photography course are eligible to apply for Licentiate Membership of the Royal Photographic Society (you earn the title LRPS). The RPS is a highly respected organisation with worldwide recognition, although it should be noted that it is NOT a professional body like the IPPA or MPA. But having an RPS distinction is a definite plus!
I’m doing C&G 6923 up here in Belfast, it’s p/t for 2yrs, but it can be done in 1yrs if you work very hard. I’d highly recommend 6923 even if done via cyber or distance learning. I’d personally go for the GCD course because:
1) You get a C&G cert,
2) On completion you can get a LRPS, LSWPP, and other industry wide letters after your name. (if you obtain the grades)
If you’re hoping to make a career out of it this is to be considered.
3) GCD use the C&G course as a led into their BA in Photography, mmmm very interesting.I’m not meaning to take anything away from DigitalBeginner’s course, which is most defo worth looking into.
If you get a copy of Michael Langford’s book Basic Photography, 7th Edition, it’s based on that.
