Nikkor Lens (Sold)

EquinoxParticipant
I’m selling the 18-200 DX VR F/3.5-5.6 plus a Hana circular polarizing filter. Only bought in August. Looking for something faster
E600 onoI would also be interested in a part exchange:
Nikkor AF 85 F/1.8D (must be in excellent nick) + E300easParticipanthi equinox
I may be interested in your swap for the 85 1.8 + 300.
My 85 1.8 is with a friend who is trying it out potentially to buy it, I’ll give him a call tomorrow and find out if he wants it or not and get back to you.

I just spoke to my friend and he doesnt have the finances at the moment to buy my lens, shame for him, good for me. =)
anyhow, if you’re still interested in the 85 1.8 + 300e and we’re both happy with the condition of each others lenses, I think we may have a deal.
cheers
easParticipantthese where taken with my 85 1.8, just before christmas. You can double check the exif, but I think they’re both at 1.8.
They have been sharpened in PS, but you can see the underlaying quality is there. From f4 to f11 it’s about as sharp as they come.
cheers
EquinoxParticipantThorstenMemberCrop the second image to a square (take out the bottom bit) and convert it to monochrome and I think you’ll have a stunning image!
easParticipanthey – is this a critique thread? :D
thanks Thorston – your probably right about taking out the hand, but I’m happy with it as is.
Feel free to edit and repost it tho*. Would be interested in seeing how it turns out.
* I know I have edit posts to no, but I think it’s in safe hands…..
cheers

Apologies to Equinox for hijacking his thread like this but I couldn’t resist the direct invitation from eas to adjust the image I commented on (we should probably start a new thread in the appropriate forum!).
Here’s what I meant when I first commented on this image. I hope you like it!
I personally think it also works quite well as a blue-toned image (although admitedly some may find this too OTT)
Once again, apologies for hijacking this thread – at least it will get some more views now
easParticipantthanks Thorsten, well done.
I really like the mono. I’d say it’s an improvement on the original. I like the softness you’ve added, and the noise suits as well.
One thing I do like about the original that is lost in the crop are the lines, horizontals + diagonals from his top and verticals from the background. I think they have a subtle graphical interest to the shot, without being distracting.
I’ve always felt square crops suit centred subjects better and I wouldn’t generally use a 3rds approach of composition on them. Having said that, your crop does work very well on this, it’s more a subjective issue anyhow.
I do also like the blue tone, but would not choose it over the mono or the original.
thanks again, it’s nice to see how one of your own photos is dealt with in capable hands.
ps. I don’t know how to move this thread to a more appropriate area, may be interesting to see others views on them.
BTW – equinox and I have pretty much closed this deal, only depending on inspecting each others lenses.

Show me yours and I’ll show you mine
No worries Thorsten hijack away. Like what you did with mono shot. I like the blue-toned image but I just think when it comes to children a blue-tone image is a bit cold. That’s just my two cent worth.
