Adobe this morning confirmed plans to launch CS3 on 27 MarchAdobe will launch Adobe Creative Suite 3 at a special event in New York on 27 March, the company confirmed this morning.
The company will be celebrating the global launch at the event, which will be webcast live at 8.30pm UK time.
The company remains reticent regarding the features and applications within CS3, but has released a teaser video… available on YouTube and the Adobe website (see full article link below).
phtgrphrunknownMemberThat is great! However I just bought CS2 last week, now I have to upgrade Already
stasberMemberAnother update for those interested (tho out of budget for me)!
Adobe Systems Inc. will announce Tuesday that its highly-anticipated Creative Suite 3.0 software suite will be available in six distinct bundles with European pricing ranging from ?999 to ?2799.
The “Standard,” and most affordable of all six Creative Suite 3.0 bundles, will cost ?999 and include Flash CS3 Professional, Dreamweaver CS3, Fireworks CS3, and Contribute CS3. A ?1699 “Premium” package will also cater to web “designers,” adding Photoshop CS3 Extended, Illustrator CS3, and Acrobat 8 Professional.
All Creative Suite 3.0 Web and Design suites, be it the Standard or Premium bundles, will also include Adobe Bridge CS3, Version Cue CS3, Device Central CS3, Stock Photos, and Acrobat Connect.
Note:
Article has a useful chart showing prices and what’s included. Photoshop CS3 is available in the Standard ‘Design’ package at ‘only’ ?1,269. Let us know how you get on, woncha :wink:ThorstenMemberAnother point to note – if you want to purchase this at the upgrade price you need to ensure that you’re not using a version that’s too old. I believe only three versions back are supported under the upgrade policy of CS3. I just went and bought an upgrade to CS2 because of this (as I will need an update path from 5.5, which I have as legitimate and legal). With an upgrade price of just over ? 100.00 when purchased from B&H for CS2 (don’t know the upgrade price of CS3 yet), this seems like a much better option than purchasing the full version of CS3 at full price!
MikeanywhereParticipantOh what a shitter!!!
I just got CS2 Premium and no-one at Adobe mentioned about the launch date. Not sure if I would qualify for any FOC upgrades.

I’m surprised that people appear to have been caught out like this. An early 2007 release of CS3 has been on the cards for some time now. Anyway, you won’t regret the purchase. I really don’t think that CS3 is going to give photographers using it an edge over those still using CS2. And the jury is still out on whether there are any real productivity improvements from a workflow perspective.
MikeanywhereParticipantDont get me wrong I am not blaming Adobe or anyone for that matter. I was aware that version 3 was on its way especially as I am using CS3 Beta. However, crying over the phone might allow me to get the foc upgrade.
GCPParticipantMarkKeymasterPaddy Barker has an upgrade offer Mike. Might be worth checking with him in his post.

Thanks Mark
FrankCParticipantI took advantage of the Paddy Barker deal – basically, I get CS2 and a free upgrade to CS3 later.
Good price too (by photoshop standards !)
Frank
