I stopped at this roundabout and took photos of this sculpture, but the best shot (for me, at least) was the one I took as I was leaving.
LoGillParticipantI love this idea.. I remember seeing the work of a New York taxi driver who decided that to fill the time between jobs — he would take shots of NY through the Rere View Mirror of his cab … class … Must google that !!
A really creative idea.. although I find its a little flat and grey in colour -Sorry ;) its might seem and odd suggestion but did you consider Black and White ?? Might make the sculpture pop

RobMemberDamn and blast you Pete l’Homme! I’ve been meaning to
do this for ages. I even carry a bottle of glass cleaner and
a roll of kitchen towels with me to clean the mirror when the
right shot presents itself. Now it’s just going to look as
though I’m ripping off your idea! That’s it. Tripods at dawn…
Rob.

Not very tactful Rob… I drove over my Manfrotto this morning.
However, I was more worried about the car because the tripod was damaged only a little – maybe Manfrotto should build armour for the American military.
LoGirl – I didn’t lift the greyness because I felt it emphasised the “through the keyhole” look. I don’t know if it’s too pretentious to say this, but I wanted to leave intact the point-and-shoot appearance. I wish the lamp post hadn’t been in front of the sculture though.
ciaranParticipantIf I have to be honest… I’d have rathered you go out of your car, turned around and captured it first hand rather than using the mirror… sorry Pete, it really doesnt do it for me. The lighting is completely flat, it’s soft (probably because of the expensive glass it had to reflect off) and all that aside, I don’t think the perspective of the sculpture does it much justice.
jb7ParticipantI’m not sure you got out of the car at all-
how about showing some of the other pictures?
It does look like you had found a spot of shade,
did you have any light earlier?
Are these the sort of pictures you show to your children?
Instead of pictures of happy people on the beach?j
PeteTheBlokeMemberjb7ParticipantIntreresting sculpture-
I take it back,
never doubted you for a minute-Did you try one with clear space through the middle?
the ends of the arc intersect in a slightly untidy way-That grey day is still apparent in the light tone in the sky,
I think the picture would improve with a slight bit more drama in the lighting and backdrop-Still, I prefer this to the first-

Your wish is my command… ;)
I sliiiightly increased the contrast too – hope I didn’t remove too much of the point-and-shoot appearance.
Personally though… I prefer the stand alone shot of the sculpture you posted, it gives it a greater feel of depth and structure.
PixelleMemberNow it looks as if it’s printed on te surface of the mrror – quite surreal.

SodaGood one. I knew it reminded me of something.

I wish I’d won the lotto last week.

sorry just my opinonThanks for your comments Keith.
I assume you searched my posts for a photo after I commented on your dog and bloke image? Perhaps my assessment of your picture didn’t meet with your liking? If I had said “nice shot” you’d have been satisfied, would you?
Did you go to the same school as PaddyJoe, by any chance?
keithParticipantHi Pete
Im very sorry if it looks like there is any connection between ur assemement of my photo (which i agreed with) and my assement.
i assure u it was purely coincidental . on a long enough time scale, inevitabley i will give a negative view of a photo to a member
who has critisised my work. i generally dont keep track. Once again im deeply sorry for any misunderstanding
