I’ve been trying to get close to a Curlew that’s been feeding on the grass in the mornings across from where I’m working at the moment. I’ve been using my car as a hide and been slowly approaching. But unfortunately, I’ve usually had the fear in the boot and had to get out of the car before I approached. That usually alerted the Curley and it’d fly off. I drove up this morning and saw a bird feeding. I was 2 steps ahead and actually had the camera ready and on my lap. I drove up slowly. It didn’t fly away. I zoomed in …. it was no Curlew this morning. Instead I got a Redshank:
EDIT: Species correctly identified by Mr. Griffin.
:-) I’m always getting those two mixed up. I saw it didn’t have the red legs but didn’t see so much of a black tail so I was confused! I figured either you or Noely would correct me. I really need to buy an ID book.
A longer lens would be appreciated. The “Photographers In Need” charity will soon be launching “Grey Lens Day” featuring the comedic stylings of Joe Elway. It won’t be very funny ….. or stylish but long lens donations, starting with an EF 600 F4 would be appreciated.
