Canal Duck

jb7Participant
Too bad he’s legging it away from me,
must remember to put some rusks in my camera bag in future-j
erinParticipantI don?t know what you did to the water but it?s amazing. Divine colours and reflections. The minimalism of the composition works perfectly too.
jb7ParticipantThank you Erin-
I did nothing to it-
thats just a straight photograph-well, processed in Aperture
(not happy about the watermark,
must stop doing that)
but no manipulation-j

I think it might be a mallard even if you did see it in the canal (if you saw me in a stable it wouldn’t make me an ass).
I’m afraid this is nowhere near your moorhen last week. The duck is lacking detail and the foreground ripples are out of focus. The spot on his head looks like an eye even though it’s in the wrong place.
Sorry to be brutal. It just doesn’t cut it for me.

joe_elwayParticipantjb7ParticipantThanks everyone,
I’ve no problem with any and all comments,
appreciate them and take them on board-Pete, thanks for the id,
I keep taking the piss with my descriptions,
and I’m sure my offhand ignorance
can be quite irritating.Luckily,
I’ve got plenty of shots without the bird-

Yeah. Well. I’m not standing for it. Either you take ornithology lessons or I’m not going to look at your pics.
Your choice. Tek it or leave it (as we say in Derry).
jb7ParticipantOk, point taken-
but the duck is a red herring-
Though I’ve always thought they were Ducks,
how wrong can you be?I have learned a good deal about birds through these pages,
and the names of a few,
but its not just birds Pete-
The whole of the natural world is a mystery to me-unfortunately.
So I’ve renamed the picture.
