I find the metering to be easy enough. The hardest part is the focus. The 350D only has 7 AF points so multi point AF is a wast of space. I’ve gotta center point AF (AI Servo – CF 4-1 for the Canonites) … this means I gotta keep the center point on the subject. With a steady flying bird, the stance is what seems to be important.
Then there’s the auto focus speed. The 350D is slooooo-ooooo
ooooow. If you don’t get the bird on the center poitn quickly then the bird will be past you by the time the camera does focus. The lens is capable fo doing much more, it’s just the s/w is crippled so much. A 400D or a 30D would be much faster.
