Another Duck, as JB7 might have called it…

I think I’ll call it that too, despite the protestations of
ornithusiasts everywhere, and Derry in particular.

Lovely colours. Nice decision/awareness to keep the reflection in too. How hard was it to get the exposure right?

    **Stupid Question Alert**

Is a Mallard not a duck? I’ve no idea, just asking.

Cheers Aidan. I’ve always thought of them as ducks. Exposure shouldn’t have been too much of
a problem as light was pretty good on the day, hence the clear reflection, although to get the colours
so vivid the exposure came up with the white ‘collar’ of the duck completely blown. Not a lot I could
do about that, or being completely honest, not that I’d know how to do anything about that. Still,
I’m very pleased with what came out of the camera.

I love how the reflections of the background match the ducks colours….nice

If it walks like a Mallard,
    and quacks like a Mallard…

    I rest my case-
Though I have no problem differentiating between
the Peking and ? l’orange varieties-

    Nice reflections Rob,
looks like you had the same problems as me,

You set up a nice abstract reflection shot,
then the local wildlife muscle in,
screaming ‘look at me’ and ‘Take me picture mister’
    in their flashy irridescent plumage,
and you know you’re not goingto get rid of them,
    until you do.

I think ‘duck’ is more properly used as a verb,
and you should be ready to do it at the first sign of a twitcher
    beginning to twitch-

The best response I’ve ever had to one of my posts, hence my
reason for including the whole thing – worth reading twice.
I’m still wiping away the tears…

With ya on that one Rob…

In this case though I think the “duck” is an essential part of the shot…mirroring most of the colours from the water.
