My first model shoot!
-
mymodelshootsParticipant
Hi all – my first post, so please be kind. :) This was from my first ever shoot with a model… the lovely Roslyn Fuller. Any and all C&C welcome, and in fact encouraged! :) 2 and 3 are my personal faves
ThorstenMemberWell, you picked a great model to do your first model shoot with. Having worked with Roslyn myself in the past, I know that she’s great to work with. Good set of images too, considering it’s your first shoot of this type. No, they are not perfect, but then I have yet to see someone who has done a perfect shoot! Get out and shoot plenty more. Practice makes perfect and you’ll soon get the hang of it. There are a number of members on this site that are now turning out significantly better images than they were even a year ago, so don’t lose heart!
GrahamBParticipantWell it looks like you are off to a great start.
What a great model for the first time out as well
she looks really comfortable with the camera
I would choose 2 + 3 as the best as well.
Great job overall thoughNot Pete the blokeParticipantAn encouraging first start indeed. Just a small point – Number 1 suffers from what I call ‘failure to look around the viewfinder‘ syndrome….. In layman’s terms, you should have noticed that the background telescope was an unwanted distraction, and moved the model along a bit so that it was covered by her body or out of the shot altogether. This is something that eventually comes second nature, but when you start to notice things like that in the background then sometimes you can decide to use it to your advantage rather than try to kep it out of the frame. In the present instance, it is (imho) just a distracting element.
Number 2 is my clear favourite of the bunch. Well done.
RobMemberExcellent start, though it’s a shame about the distraction
of that telescope, and the overexposure of the hands, in
number 1. Her expression is terrific and I quite like like the
way the shadows fall across her face.
2 is number 1.
1 is a close second.Rob.
GrahamBParticipantAh yes “look around the viewfinder” probably the first thing Mr. Digital Beginner himself said to us when we sat
down to one of his improvers course last year. It is a hard one to get used to especially when shooting people as the natural tendency is to look directly at their eyes.
Still one to practice though, it saves a lot of PS work in the end.mymodelshootsParticipantCheers for the comments folks. Brandyman, I hear ya with respect to the telescope in #1… Although it wasn’t a case of “failure to look around the viewfinder” syndrome… at least not in this shot. This one was actually just a case of messing around before changing locations (we had been using the telescope as a prop) that resulted in a decent-ish shot – at least of Roslyn, if not the background :)
