Lovely image Eddie – not sure if it’s noise of softness but it’s a real pity it’s not a bit crisper. Lighting is absolutely gorgeous – lovely sunkissed glow off them. Almost get the feeling that there’s a mist in the air too. Very nice. :)
The thing I try to do with the deer in the park is to try pick one out from the herd and isolate it in the shot. You done that nicely and put together a nice composition. Great timing with the light too. As Ali has said, the softness does hamper it a bit. Sparpening it a bit might help out some but I don’t know how much.
Regarding the softness: Is it is a crop or did you us a teleconverter with the lens? What did you focus on?
Thanks Guys for the c&c most welcome as a complete beginer I just completed Digital Beginners Basic Digital Photography Course which I highly recommend but am still only comming to grips with the camera. As with the software I only have the Google Picasa Photo editing software to work with.
Aidan I havent cropped the shot at all and no teleconverter I used a 400D and a sigma 70-300 lens.
again thanks for the comments it is encouraging to recieve them
Eddie, how did you focus? I use centre point focusing 99.99% of the time … meter as necessary, focus on the eye and compose the shot. This increases the chance of a sharp shot. If you use multi point AF then the camera can end up focusing on who know’s what … thus leading to softness.
