Good to see better weather finally arrive – much easier to get out and take some pictures! Here’s some of Gemma, taken at the weekend around Belfast…
SteveDParticipantCliff numbers 4&5 are my favouites! Shame about that piece of wood in the bottom right of 4 though.
Where do you find them? You must have been a total player when you were my age haha!
elludeParticipantThorstenMemberI’d be very surprised if Gemma was unhappy with any of these. A great set of images. And I love the way they are backlit!
elludeParticipantThanks Thorsten, we just wandered about a bit and took pics as we went along. It was so nice to see some warm sunshine we took lots!
Have to admit I like sunshine shots – although sometimes tricky to avoid burnt out backgrounds.
RobMemberGorgeous set of images, wonderfully lit, well composed and exposed.
Can’t beat natural light for people shots. Hard pushed to pick favourites
from this bunch, but if forced I’d choose numbers two and five.
Stunning model, stunning shots.Rob.
GrahamBParticipantReally nice and very professional looking shots.
The model also the look of a young Chrissie Hynde about her.
Really nicewjklewisMemberHi Cliff great shots like them all, just wondered do you use fill flash and what type of lens do you use for the DOF
John.
LoGillParticipant3 and 5… 3 and 5 :)
They are all amazing as is usual from you – but those two have a “lil sumtin sumtin” extra, especially the light .. .. Also … I love the edgier models you pick.. she reminds me alot of Chrissie Hinde .. ;)
Great stuff.. Roll on the good weather so we see more of this ..

Totally agree about natural light being great for portraits. Main problem is, in this country, we get so many cold, grey and wet days it can be difficult to plan ahead much if hoping for good weather. Not that it’s impossible to get good shots on grey days, just unrealistic to expect anyone to look comfortable if out in the cold and wet and cold for more than five minutes.
Last weekend was really warm so that helped a lot! :)

Really niceGraham, Funny you should mention Chrissie Hynde – I was thinking exactly the same thing myself!

Thanks John. I used a small reflector on some shots (discretely, to avoid attracting too much attention from shoppers that were around!). Normally I wouldn’t hesitate to use fill-flash but just didn’t really need to here. The pics were taken with a 70-200 f4 lens, on my 20d camera.

Thanks Lorraine – you are very kind :)
I really enjoyed doing these and the warmer weather last weekend made things a lot easier.
FlipflipParticipantSecond one is deeffo my favourite.
Absolutely excellent set there.
Well done!
Matt HarperParticipant2,3 and 5 for me. Although im very impressed (i’d call it more Jealously!, lol) Excellent set, great use of compersition, light and DOF in all. From someone who had an “experiment” which was rather rushed with a model on location a few months back, im very impressed.
Matt.
