    Hi,

I tried to get the colours to POP in this one, but I may have gone a bit dark. C&C please!

Pure grit and determination. I quite like the tight crop,
works exceptionally well in this instance, and no, I don’t
think it’s too dark at all.
Terrific action shot. You should be well pleased with it.

I think the crop is brilliant – really brings you into the muck flying action :) Sooooo sharp, excellent expression and action captured, as Rob says , grit and determination .. Super.

I have to agree with everything that has been said a brilliant shot the crop is perfect and I know how hard it it is to get a shot like it(I have tried but no luck). what lens did you use.

I’m no expert on this but I like it a lot. Real focus on the action and intensity.

Great action shot, crop colours and focus all spot on.

Thnaks folks for the nice comments!

Tech stuff: It’s a 1dMII with a ef 400 f/4.0 DO lens. shot wide open (f4.0). The camera would have been in AI focusmode, which can easily track a player running provided the photographer is able to keep the focus point where it’s needed. I use single point autofocus point, usually the centre one, but I do move it from side to side if I’m after a specific type of shot and if I know which side of the shot the subject will be, and if I’m feeling lucky :-)

I usually shoot from low down, sitting on a three legged stool. but I have more recently taken to wearing a goretex weatherproof suit and lying on the ground to get the angles I like.

The image is processed a fair bit (levels, curves, stauration, filters) to give it pop, but no other manipulation. He’s not on this board, but I gotta give credit to a Celbridge club member for helping me with the photoshop stuff. I can now get as good an image from the 1dMII as I could from the 350d I started with. (Sounds funny does’nt it?).
