Hi,
Anybody had an experience with this company on ebay? I am about to order a lens from them and they are offering reimbursment of any possible import tax/duty/fee
Thanks,
UnalGrahamBParticipantThere was some talk a while ago on this forum that Digital Rev had stopped shiiping to Ireland
You may want to PM expresbro I think he had an order cancelled by them when they say
he was in Ireland.
I bought my Canon flash of them ages ago though and I didn’t pay duty, they apparently bypass it by
shipping to the UK first and then reshipping to Ireland.Don’t quote me on all that though, I just have recollections of past threads.
FrankCParticipantI have bought from them a number of times – and would highly recommend them.
There is no issue with orders being canceled via ebay – but there may be for their direct website purchases (I always use their ebay shop).
There is sometimes some VAT/duty to be paid on delivery, but not as much as you might expect (PM me if you want details). The VAT/Duty guarantee only applies to UK purchases.

It seems I missed the most important part of the condition, I will send them a mail and see if they offer same to Ireland or not.
thanks for the info folks!
GrahamBParticipantI should also point out my expierience is of the Digiat Rev website and not the ebay store
markcapilitanParticipantno problems with the ebay store. Again like the others said, they only refund the VAT for UK customers. But they are quick in refunding and communications.
MikeanywhereParticipantI bought all my gear from Digital-Rev before moving to Ireland. I was charged the tax etc by UPS but I submitted the value to the guys and it was reimbursed within 3 days.
The VAT refund only applies to the UK irrespective of whether they deliver to Ireland or not.
EDIT – wasnt quick on the the ol typing and I have just reiterated Marks comments.
IOPParticipantDigitalRev have told me that they cannot ship to Ireland due to their lack of compliance with the Waste Initiative (WEEE). They cancelled and reimbursed my order for a D200 plus bits last month on this basis (bummer, was saving over 500 Euro :) ).
I had bought from them in the past and they were using a loophole whereby, from what I understand, they were able to ship duty free to the UK under a bilateral trade agreement between the UK Government and Hong Kong. They were then immediately onward shipping from within the EU and therefore were not liable for Customs and Duty. But the Irish Revenue Service said “NO, NO, NO! Hence the real reason I believe for their lack of willingness to ship to Ireland.

GrahamBParticipantThat’s what is the whole WEEE thing.
Thanks Dave, that was wrecking my head ( no time to google )UnalMemberIf I order an item costs around ?900, how much vat&duty i would have to pay for it?
FrankCParticipantUnal
VAT 21% + Duty.
No Duty on Digital Cameras.
Not sure what the duty is on lenses etc, but it’s fairly low – the VAT is the biggest amount. In practice, you often don’t have to pay anything extra.

As far as I know the Duty is around 3%-4% – you can check this on http://www.revenue.ie once you figure out the correct tariff code. Too many people worry about being charged duty. The real hit comes from VAT at 21%. Plus that’s VAT on the cost of goods plus duty. So you end up paying VAT on the duty portion as well!

That brings it up to nearly what the EU Vendors charge, so better off to go with technikdirekt then.
OatesyParticipantUnal dont mean to offend but making the price the same as EU vendors is the whole reason behind Import Duty Tax.
I got my Nikkon from america with a load of lenses and stuff. Had to pay 21% on top of the price when it was delivered :(
:D Still way cheaper than getting it here thoughEd.Participantdigitalbeginner wrote:

Just ordered a 70-200 F2.8+ TC off them? Wonder does WEEE only apply to bodies?
