Happy New Year. There are a couple of things about this image that I noticed.
1. There is nothing that grabs my interest and keeps it there. I find my eye is moving around the image a lot looking for something to settle on. The fact that the building is set in between the trees with bare branches and between a sky which has no defined clouds (nothing you could do about that) and an untidy ground makes the whole image a distraction of itself (if that makes sense)
2. The verticals of the building seem to be leaning a bit backwards.
3. The image is full of greys and lacks a bit of contrast so its rather flat.
Sorry to start your new year off with a critique of your first posting in 2015 but I hope you find it constructive.
Thanks Mark, all critique is good :-) I actually liked the busyness of the sky in this one as it blends nicely with the busy surroundings and made the boathouse pop imo, that was why I leaned back to capture and introduced inadvertently the lean, good call!. I think I’ll revisit now that it’s virtually next door since Ive moved just have to get the camera dusted down and out
