    Hi all,

Here is an shot at a landscape from myself, trying to apply, (?) some of the good stuff I have learned recently. This is a castle ruin that can be seen from the new N4 just after Kinnegad as you head west. This is croped from an shot which I took from the side of the road this morning. Currently still using the Kit lens on my D50 so zoom limited to 55mm.

    C&C and suggestions welcome.

    Thanks,
    John.

I like this shot allot. When i first saw it i thought it might be too wide but when i say how you had arranged the sheep in the picture i then thought the wideness works well with the picture and composition (super castle its positioned perfectly in the picture). Super shot me thinks. Only thing i can advise to improve it might be to slightly sharpen, add some saturation and a slight play with the curves to up the contrast

I like the crop and I like the “countryside” composition of this shot, like the way you included the sheep on the shot!, I think though this shot could use a bit more contrast on the processing to try and limit a bit the haze in the air, it could also use a more interesting sky, but well we can’t control that can we…
Something you should correct though is the small branch sticking out from the bottom almost in the midle of the frame that is quite distracting and should be easy to clone out in PS.

I love pano’s and wide angle images. I especially like the “misty” feel of this image. Nice job, John.

    Hi All,

Thanks a mill for the feedback, great to get it. I have applied some of the suggestions you made and here is the result, a great improvment I think….

Increasing the contrast has really taking some of the haze out of the air in the shot, while keeping the early morning feeling. I am delighted with the result now.
    Thanks for the suggestions,
    John.

Like the changes John they have really improved the picture. All that is left now is to print it, frame it and hang it on a wall

    well done

    Really nice shot.
The edit works really well, you’ve transformed a slightly flat
    image into something really nice.

    Get it printed buddy.
