Landscapes from Connemara
-
MartinParticipant
Was in Connemara on Friday and Saturday to do a bit of hill walking and rock climbing. Was in a bit of rush taking these shots as there were people waiting for me back in the car (except for second shot as we were out walking by then). I did not have a tripod or my lee grads with me. Could not get the polorizer off the front of the lens so some of the shots have an unbalanced sky. Anyhow let me know what you think. Hope you do not mind me posting a few pics
(Again my laptop screen is not calibrated so hopefully the colours come out ok on screen)
Thanks
MartinRodcunhaParticipantWoW, Fantastic photos Martin… I like them all…
Great compositions you chose your viewpoints very well, now I know who’s gonna guide me through Connemara…
If I had to pick one… it would have to be all 5 of them!
Regards,
Rod
DavePParticipantearthairfireParticipantWOW
1 and 2 are simply divine. It’s not ofter I see a blue sky fluffy cloud shot I like, but these both totally do it for me.
Love them!
Tim
Robert55MemberWow. You have a great eye, Martin. The exposure, composition cropping…everything, is spot on. I agree with Tim in that my favorites are one and two. Great work!!!
jb7Participant4&5 for me, out of a strong bunch-
I really have to find that location myself sometime,
this is the second time I’ve seen it here-j
seanmcfotoMemberGood stuff there Martin. The Derryclare/Pine island shots are from early in the day. I’ve only ever been there in cloud or fog at that time. I actually managed to do a whole day in Connemara today without going there!
The first one looks familiar, but I cant place. I don’t think I’ve been high enough for the 2nd one. The third one looks familiar too, but again I can’t place it.I visited Doo Lough today for the first time.. I’ve some nice shots to loads from there. Anyhow good work and do let me know the other locations.
ValentiaMemberStunning Martin. Who needs grads when you can get stuff like this? And not a sight of long “exposured” running water. Phew!! :)
SodafarlMemberPeteTheBlokeMemberLovely set of photos. No.1 doesn’t look like Ireland at all – I thought it was somewhere in America. No.2 is my favourite, but it’s hard to pick a favourite from such a good bunch.
MarkKeymasterMartin,
Wonderful set of images. You’ve spoilt us.
I look forward to your future posts :)Mark
MartinParticipantThanks all for the nice words im glad you liked my pictures
Rodcunha: Connemara is a great place when you get the weather like I did. You don’t need a guide in Connemara there are so many opportunities around every corner. In my opinion it?s the most photogenic place in Ireland
Jb7: The location is the Derry Clare Pine island as spotted by seanmcfoto (down the southern end of the 12 ben’s, basically on the road on the right hand side between maum cross and Clifton)
Valentia: Yes I did not use a long exposure for the water even if I had my tripod I would not have gone for long exposure I don’t know what it is with people that when they see running water they have to do a long exposure. It works sometimes but not all the time.
PeteTheBloke: Its Ireland all right shot no 1 is taken at Aasleagh Falls just up the road from Leenaun. The river is called Erriff
seanmcfoto: The first one is Aasleagh Falls. Yes I took the picture of the pine islands early in the morning. Very much over photographed island but I had to take a picture as all previous attempts failed due to fog and rain
Thanks again all
MartinrichiehatchMemberStunning stuff Martin… all really well captured…! Would love to see sunset/sunrise in a few of these locations…. another place added to the holiday wanted list…!
Richie
FensterParticipantFantastic photos, it makes me wish I had a car Grad ND filters for all of them?
seanmcfotoMemberI have some beautiful images of the falls, but I only saw today that you can go up on the right hand side of the river! I dropped a 400D with Sigma 10-20 in the water there on New Years Day this year. It was about 3 weeks old. Ouch. Dried them out for a week and both are working fine. Where are the 2nd and 3rd shot from?
