What a beauty. You captured the characteristics of the bird marvellously – it’s like a bird book “How to recognise a chough” painting.

Rare enough. Mostly west coast and the north of Donegal.

    Cheers for the feedback all,

Noely – No Jay shots as of yet. These would take a little bit of work to set up and abroad they seem to more common. From experience in places on the contintent (Czech Rep., France) can be as common as magpies are here!

Richie – As Pete said coastal areas in the NW. However, from my experience most common in coastal areas around south, south-east. Common around Ardmore Head, Knockadoon Head (flock of 15-20 birds), Mizen Head (large flock 25+). They often mix with Jackdaws on the cliff areas and unless your looking of them you may not notice them.
