Ah, I really like this. I have a thing about images that are predominantly monochrome
yet most definitely colour. Don’tcha just love those umbrellas…
Well spotted Ciaran, and very well timed with the various people walking in and out
of frame. Now, is it just me or does this need about a half a degree clockwise
rotation? Other than that I absolutely love it. A cracking image.Rob.
fstop89564ParticipantFlipflipParticipantI definately like it. But theres something in it thats buggin me. I think its that the chairs in the front are monochrome but the rest have colour.
But still, thats a great shot man. It really is.
ciaranParticipantCheers everyone :)

Rob.Not sure Rob. I may take a peek later on and see.

The first set of chairs, maybe the first 8 leading into the frame are metal. After that, they’re wooden chairs and tables, hence the colour.
Thanks for the comments.
Robert55MemberExpresbroParticipantI’ve been looking at this for a while now trying to come up with something illuminating to say, but I can’t. I like it…and it seems quite different to the shots I’ve been used to seeing from you. I’ve noticed a different kind of style in some of your more recent posts Ciaran. Is this deliberate or just the shots that presented themselves at the time? Or am I just imagining it? :D
Anyway..I like this shot..as much for it’s aesthetic simplicity as anything else. No story, just an image of pleasing lines and subtle colour.
ciaranParticipantI’m going to have to start posting some shots of nude women before people begin to think that all I take photos of are people on the street :)
At the end of the day, I shoot anything and everything. Some photographic genres, I’m pretty poor at and whilst I still take photos I often don’t post as I don’t feel they’re of a standard I’d like to associate with my images. At the end of the day people interest me, so more often than not I post shots which include them. Over recent months, my people shots have comprised of images from the streets, but that isn’t to say this is all I shoot. I guess what I’m trying to say is that my style isn’t deliberate. Unless I’m shooting for a project (i.e. a panel competition in the camera club) I just wander around and see if something presents itself. I have an itching at the moment to shoot a lot more studio stuff, so who knows what that will bring.
Thanks for the comments.
ExpresbroParticipantWell I think we’re due a PI studio day here in Dublin soon. I’d love to try it out myself. Maybe Si could do a studio tutorial as well as the Malahide one in May? I know I’d love it for one.

Been there, done that.. comes highly recommended :)
As memory serves me right, I think I was the first person to get Si across to Ireland for a tutorial way back when… a couple of years ago now  Since then, I’ve been across to Simon for a tutorial and also did a studio day with him here in Dublin AND have shot with him up north in a studio. So, I’m all tutorialed out :) Personally, I think the tutorials are an invaluable way to learn, but for me to get my best results, I prefer to work alone.
