er….A fly?

So I was home sick with a rotten cold today..decided to get some recuperative Vitamin D in the back garden for a bit, so sat reading my Magic Lantern D80 Guide when I saw this guy sitting on a leaf catching some rays himself…so..what is it? Or rather what kind of fly is it? Don’t think it’s a hover fly cos we have loads of those in the garden right now…
Oh and this is about as Macro as my 18-135mm kit lens will go… :D
Its one of the many types of hovers Robbie…as the weather warms up the others will appear :wink:

Well i’m back in work today..but still feeling like crud..luckily I don’t have to do any major manual labour..hehehe!!
Already had a couple of Hot Jemmys with Lemon yesterday. Might not have cured the cold..but sure made me feel better :wink:
On the shot, I think the Nikkor 18-135mm Is a lot sharper than maybe it’s given credit for. It’s not really up to much in the macro stakes, but it’s not bad either. This shot was only slightly cropped from the original.
Don’t know if I was a photographer in my last life …but i’d sure like to be one in this life… :wink:

The irony :) We spend half our life running away from them..and now we’re chasing them :) Funny that.
Or half our lives trying to obliterate them with rolled up newspapers….the other half trying to photograph them…. :wink:
maybe the next shot will be one stuck to the bottom of a rolled up newspaper
God no…I stopped doing that years ago…. :D
Now i just use a fly swatter..!!
