A Bridge
-
GrahamBParticipant
It seems to be a running theme with me lately that i don’t know where to post
some of my shots so I’ll drop this one in here.Have at it boys and girls :D
LoGillParticipantI love that bridge :) haven’t been there in ages and used to spend lots of summers on that beach .. long ago ;)
I like your composition and the high contrast conversion.. It works for me … I had an evil thought about cloning the people out of the image and having just the empty bridge .. but either way :)
L
GrahamBParticipantHi Lo ( i love that )
I actually tried to clone those people out but kept making a balls of it.
I’m going to try again tonight so I’ll repost without them. Thanks for the comments :D
ExpresbroParticipantReally like this one Graham. Probably my favourite shot of yours for a while. I’d agree about the people, if you can takem out of the frame without ruining the lines it would improve it imo.
GrahamBParticipantThanks Rob – glad you like it.
Hopefully i’m starting to find my groove with this photography malarkyIOPParticipantGrahamBParticipantdigitalbeginner wrote:
Great Black and White conversion!

I had help
RobMemberI love that bridge Graham, and one of the things I most love about it
is that, last time I checked anyway, it was still there, offering the perfect
opportunity to go back and take the picture again.
Personally, I can’t see any way of cloning the people out of it in a
realistic manner. For me, your shot has to be all about timing; perfect
timing will be when the bridge is empty.
That said, I like the image, really like the conversion, and the aspect is
almost perfect. I think if you were to get even lower on the shot,
let’s say lie on your belly propping yourself up on your elbows, you’d
absolutely nail it. Just my c?pla pingin worth…Rob.

Hehehe!! Yep…as long as a car or truck didn’t trundle along and nail you as well…
mgstParticipantI like the converging lines it gives great dept, lovely conversion and texture in the foreground planks.

S-ManMemberGrahamBParticipantThanks for all the comments folks, I am happy with the way this one turned out.
I take everyones point about getting the shot without the people.
Cloning would be difficult. I gave it a shot at lunch and it got messy to say the least.
So i guess a future revist will be required.I really like this bridge and I am delighted it is still wood and not some horible steel and concrete monster.
I really and truly hope when they do eventually need to replace it they keep it exactly the same as it is now. Thanks again folks. Glad you guys like it – -I aim to please

Don’t use the cloning tool, use the polygon tool to draw a straight line around the people and along the top of the hand rail. This gives you the size that has to be covered over. Now moved the selection to the right and copy an area of the sky that is similar in shading. It takes about a minute. You might need a feather of 1 or 2 pixels on the Polygon tool on the high res shot to help blend everything in.
Dave
GrahamBParticipantJay KingParticipantyou could also try copying a bit of the bridge from the right of the people, moving it across to cover them and then reducing it’s size to match…
this would eliminate the dark area where the people’s legs used to be…
my effort…
