Snowy Owl

shutterbugParticipant
Very bright sunshine did me no favours, I adjusted as much as I could
with my very limited knowledge of PS. Added a border new exercise for
me but is it a bit O.T.T. ? Would appreciate any comments :)joe_elwayParticipantI don’t like these types of border … they intrude on the subject. In this one, you’ve got a tengent on the head, cut off the shoulder and for me, thrown off the composition by using this type of border.
The light made this shot a no-go. You might have gotten something by spot metering from the bright part on the left but there would have been a lot in the shade.
Now I’ve gotten that all out, I’m gonna watch some grown men bash each others brains out on TV.

PoeticJusticeMemberJoe don’t like this kinda border
Thinks they’re really out of order
It’s not the border that spoils this shot
It’s the fact the feathers are blown to pot
Just look for hotspots on your screen
Before you leave the shooting scene
And if you need a second shot
Add it to the one you’ve got
But expose it down a stop or two
You might find the job it’ll do.shutterbugParticipantjoe_elwayParticipantLooking back on my post … I probably come off sounding a bit hard … sorry if that’s the case.
shutterbugParticipantNo not at all Aidan, I am here to learn and appreciate
any feedback, (I surely wont use a border again though :) )ExpresbroParticipantjoe_elway wrote:

The site actually threw another wobbly when I was posting. I refreshed and there it was again.
JohnParticipantNa your just a Snarky old Git :D
Keep using borders shutterbug, Joe just didn’t like the border because it rminded him of his clothes, all green and sneaky :)joe_elwayParticipantGrahamBParticipantjoe_elway wrote:
That’s it! You’re all going down in Paintball. :-)
Bring it on ye pup
Oh and on the picture issue, yes it is a little blown but I imagine it would damn hard to get that shot perfect. Ye did
well to get that level of detail. IMHO
Also borders are always a personal thing. I’m not a fan of decorative borders I prefer the simple black or white approach but
thats just me.shutterbugParticipantThanks Graham, ………as for borders forget em look at the
uproar this one has caused, tut tut! :)GrahamBParticipantExpresbroParticipantDon’t give up on borders Shutterbug. A nice simple white border can make an image stand out I think. Borders like the one you’ve chosen here can take away from the image which is not a good thing, especially if it infringes on the subject itself.
Personally I hate these damn snowy owls.. Can never get the exposure right and they just have no idea how to behave in front of a camera!!
