i like it, sharp, colour is great, composition and DOF very nice. I might crop a bit off the top but thats just me. :) Nice shot positron.
I’d go with Ali on that. I like the decision to keep the noise as is. Cleaning it up would’ve made it weird or lost detail on the bird itself (if you masked). Wouldn’t be at all worried about not being close in … the letterbox would work for me. The bird is nicely placed for it.
I am not mad about the letterbox format, but you both are right – it does make sense to crop the top – I will give it a go. This is 300mm at ISO 1600 (:eek:) was not intentional (had left it at that the previous night..)!

There’s nothing wrong with letterbox. If it works, it works. I sometime find myself looking at a scene that screams either a conversion or a shot layout. If the shot needs it, it needs it. BUT, in the end it is your shot, your vision, and finally, your decision :-)
Thanks Aidan, you are absolutely right indeed. I did try the letterbox and thought it cuts of the tip of the twig and didn’t like the look of it then – I think I have changed my mind, I will give it a go again! :D Thanks again!
