SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 EX DG lens

Have just purchased a new one of these. Can anyone out there furnish me with comments, pros or cons through their own personal experiences?
Cheers.
Nandy mcinroyParticipantI’ve heard nothing but good things about this lens. I considered one myself a few years back when I used film.
Not so useful on digital bodies (for me anyway).
As a result, a lot of these lenses are coming onto the 2nd hand market at quite reasonable prices.

NialloParticipantThanks Andy. Yes reports are good alright. The price isn’t what I’d call cheap just yet!
I priced it in 2 shops in dublin both were comming in at 500 notes.
Got it online for 320.Expect delivery on Fri. Fingers crossed!!!
ciaranParticipantI love it.. it’s my work horse lens and it’s on my camera the majority of the time. Two things to watch for are when shooting into the sun, light can bounce around a bit in it, so use the hood and/or your hand. It’s also a little noisey when focusing, but personally this doesn’t bother me. I’m sure you’ll love it.
NialloParticipantSounds bang on Andy. I’m using a Canon 350D and I’ll be doing the honours at a friends wedding soon so that’s why I wanted something for inside (Church & Reception). Have seen a friends one in action before and yes it is a little noisy while focusing, but that wouldn’t bother me.
To be honest I ‘m not sure if this lens is a digital lens for a digital camera, but I know it’ll be fine for what I need.
Do you know if it is?http://www.pixmania.com/ie/uk/114317/art/sigma/28-70mm-f2-8-ex-dg-lens.html
Goot to know about the light/sun though. Ta.

ciaranParticipantThe DG range of Sigma lenses are optimised for digital in that they try to ensure the light hits the sensor in a perpdindicular fashion. Film cares less about the angle of incidence. But it is not a cropped sensor lens, so it can be used comfortably on a film body.
